RSV vaccine

If you are aged 75 or over you can have the RSV vaccination.

It is recommended to get the vaccine on or shortly after your 75th birthday. Those turning 75 between March and October should aim to receive it by the end of October before winter.

RSV – respiratory syncytial virus – is a common virus affecting the airways and lungs. For most adults and children it causes a mild illness such as a cough or cold and usually gets better on its own. As you get older your risk of serious illness from RSV increases and can lead to pneumonia or even death, especially in those with heart or lung disease or a weakened immune system.
