The Foundry Town Clinic is taking part in the national PRINCIPLE clinical trial, which aims to find low-risk treatments for older people with COVID-19 that can be taken at home.
To be eligible to join the trial you will need to have experienced symptoms that are likely to have been caused by COVID-19 in the last 14 days. You do not need to have had a COVID-19 test.
The trial is open to people aged 65 or over, or aged 50–64 with an underlying health condition.
If you are registered at The Foundry Town Clinic and would like more information, please contact us on 01685 875906 or 01685 872006. You can also join the trial online, even if you are not currently registered with our practice. For full details, visit http://www.principletrial.org.
The issue causing postponement of routine blood tests has now been resolved.
All patients who had blood tests cancelled can now re-book appointments. Please contact the Surgery.
The Surgery will be running as it has been during the forthcoming lockdown. The only difference will be that prescriptions can be ordered over the telephone for the duration of the lockdown.
Do not ignore any worrying symptoms. We are still seeing patients in person – however this is dependent on an initial telephone or online consultation to ensure the Surgery runs safely and efficiently.
Can we emphasise again that our online prescription service and online eConsultation service are available, the latter with a guaranteed 24 hour turnaround. With the demand on Surgery phone lines these services may be an easier and quicker option to gain advice or treatment.
Due to an unexpected shortage of essential materials needed to process blood tests, supplied by Roche Pharmaceuticals, it is not possible to undertake some routine blood tests at the present time.
This is a UK-wide problem which Welsh Government and Welsh Health Boards are working urgently to resolve but cannot give a date for this.
The surgery will be contacting everybody who this will be affecting to postpone their appointments. Please do not ring up to make an appointment for bloods unless it is urgent.
We sincerely apologise if your test has been delayed or needs to be repeated.
An additional flu clinic for at risk patients under 65 is now available. Please note there are separate children’s clinics (contact reception for details).
The clinic is at Aberaman Surgery:
Friday 9th October
From 9:00am
All clinics are by appointment only.
If you have an appointment with a doctor or nurse at any time and are eligible for a flu vaccination please request to have it then rather than attending a separate flu clinic appointment.
